چکیده

For every list of integers x1, . . . , xm there is some j such that x1+ · · ·+xj −xj+1−· · ·−xm ≈ 0. So the list can be nearly balanced and for this we only need one alternation between addition and subtraction. But what if the xi are k-dimensional integer vectors? Using results from topological degree theory we show that balancing is still possible, now with k alternations. This result is useful in multi-objective optimization, as it allows a polynomial-time computable balance of two alternatives with conflicting costs. The application to two multi-objective optimization problems yields the following results: • A randomized 1/2-approximation for multi-objective maximum asymmetric traveling salesman, which improves and simplifies the best known approximation for this problem. • A deterministic 1/2-approximation for multi-objective maximum weighted satisfiability.

Pareto-optimal Solutions for Multi-objective Optimal Control Problems using Hybrid IWO/PSO Algorithm

Heuristic optimization provides a robust and efficient approach for extracting approximate solutions of multi-objective problems because of their capability to evolve a set of non-dominated solutions distributed along the Pareto frontier. The convergence rate and suitable diversity of solutions are of great importance for multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. The focu...

Modelling and optimization of a tri-objective Transportation-Location-Routing Problem considering route reliability: using MOGWO, MOPSO, MOWCA and NSGA-II

In this research, a tri-objective mathematical model is proposed for the Transportation-Location-Routing problem. The model considers a three-echelon supply chain and aims to minimize total costs, maximize the minimum reliability of the traveled routes and establish a well-balanced set of routes. In order to solve the proposed model, four metaheuristic algorithms, including Multi-Objective Gre...

EMCSO: An Elitist Multi-Objective Cat Swarm Optimization

This paper introduces a novel multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on cat swarm optimizationalgorithm (EMCSO) and its application to solve a multi-objective knapsack problem. The multi-objective optimizers try to find the closest solutions to true Pareto front (POF) where it will be achieved by finding the less-crowded non-dominated solutions. The proposed method applies cat swarm optim...

Multi-objective Optimum Design of Balanced SAW Filters Using Generalized Differential Evolution

A multi-objective optimum design method of the balanced Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filter is proposed. The frequency response characteristics of the balanced SAW filters are governed primarily by their geometrical structures. Besides, specifications for a balanced SAW filter is given by using several criteria. Therefore, in order to realize desirable frequency response characteristics, the str...

Urban Land-Use Allocation By A Cell-based Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm

Allocating urban land-uses to land-units with regard to different criteria and constraints is considered as a spatial multi-objective problem. Generating various urban land-use layouts with respect to defined objectives for urban land-use allocation can support urban planners in confirming appropriate layouts. Hence, in this research, a multi-objective optimization algorithm based on grid is pr...
